Hey, Did You Happen to See...
...the most beautiful boy and girl in the world?
DAME ELIZABETH TAYLORFebruary 27, 1932
VAN WILLIAMS
February 27, 1934
Also born today: Joan Bennett (February 27, 1910 - December 7, 1990), whom we always (unfairly) regarded a bit as Constance's less-interesting younger sibling. Incidentally, Joan played Elizabeth Taylor's mother in Father of the Bride (1950) and Father's Little Dividend (1951), and, when called upon, could do a pretty fair imitation of her big sister Connie:
This is not, we hasten to add, a photo of what we've been doing on our little hiatus.

Our Favorite Crusty Curmudgeon
We loved Lucy, and desired Desi, but secretly, we really preferred the Mertzes to the Ricardos. And although Ethel Mae Potter will forever be our favorite, the contributions of Bill Frawley as little Freddy Mertz, the crustiest, curmudgeonliest crusty curmudgeon (as well as the most lovable) to ever hit the screen, shouldn't be overlooked. In 1965, five years after I Love Lucy and its hour-long spin-off went off the air, Frawley made a brief, funny cameo on Lucille Ball's second series, The Lucy Show. The audience's recognition applause was tremendous, and the punchline priceless. It turned out to be Frawley's final appearance before his death from a heart attack, a sweet send-off if there ever was one.
P.S. We'll be back with regular updates on Sunday! Thanks for being patient, darlings!

P.S. Thank you to everyone who has written us, publicly and privately. Fear not, darlings, we're just taking a little breather while we catch up on (shudder) our real world responsibilities. We love you!
